Gil had always feared he would lose his hearing. His fear wasn’t of deafness itself. No he feared that he would be rendered incapable of doing his job. Then he had met Warrick Brown. As they began dating, and even before that, Warrick showed him that although doing what he loved was great, there was more to life than a job.

 

When Gil was diagnosed with otosclerosis, a hearing impairment inherited from his mother, Warrick was right by his side. Warrick let Gil know that no matter his decision, Warrick would support his decision. Even with all of Warrick’s support, Gil still had his doubts about Warrick sticking around if he lost his hearing. Those fears were assuaged when Warrick proposed to him, and they celebrated their commitment to one another in a beautiful ceremony held in Catherine’s backyard. From that day on he never regretted his decision to get the surgery to correct his hearing.

 

Standing in the waiting room, listening to the glorious sound of his daughter’s cry, Gil knew he never would.
