Disclaimer: I do not own these characters. Please don’t sue.
Notes: First time writing anything with Warrick/Jim. I wrote this @ 4:06am in about 8 minutes, so don’t expect much. The bunny bit me, so I had to write it so I could get some sleep.

In the few moments after he wakes each morning, before his mind is fully alert, Warrick is always a little disoriented. Once his brain registers where he is, and who's lying next to him, he always smiles. Then he leans over to his sleeping lover, kissing him lightly, before gently shaking him awake.

“Jim, babe, it’s time to get up. We have to get ready for work.”

And each time, Jim sleepily replies, “Just ten more minutes.”

Laughing, Warrick always lets him indulge. He has never told Jim that he set the clock ten minutes fast so he can allow for these little indulgences. As they say ignorance is bliss.

Getting out of the bed, Warrick then makes his way to the kitchen, turning the coffee pot on. Ten minutes later, he brings a steaming mug of coffee to his lover, wakes Jim from his slumber, and hands him the much needed coffee.

After taking a few sips of the coffee, allowing his body a little time to wake, Jim always pulls Warrick down for a slow morning kiss. “Good morning.”

“Good morning to you, too.”

After that, they go about their normal routine. Jim always prepares a small breakfast, usually eggs and toast, while Warrick showers. After eating, Jim takes hi shower and gets dressed, while Warrick washes the breakfast dishes.

They never leave the house without exchanging a brief kiss and an “I love you,” knowing in their jobs, it could very possibly be the last chance they get.

Some days Warrick and Jim don't see one another at all, cases taking up so much of their time, leaving little time for anything else. Although they rarely get to spend mornings together, they take solace in their morning ritual, no matter when that actual “morning” might be. Some may view their little ritual as boring and dull, but working in a field where everything is unpredictable, Warrick and Jim have learned to cherish the predictable.
